Rewards at Dinnington High School

Rewards at Dinnington High School

We seek to recognise students’ efforts and achievement in a wide range of way. Our recognition and rewards are linked to our school values: The Dinnington Way: kindness, respect, excellence. This is not exhaustive.

Recognition

Staff routinely use praise, positive stamps, phonecalls and postcards home to recognise and acknowledge students’ efforts. Some departments also run additional rewards programmes to encourage students.

Excellence Points

We worked with our Student Leaders to agree rewards. We review these regularly so this information might not be the most up to date if they have suggested something they would prefer.

Students receive points for areas such as: good attendance, uniform and equipment, attitude to learning, effort in class, contributing to the wider school community, showing kindness and respect over and above general good manners.

Rewards Assemblies

At the end of each term, each year group holds a Rewards Assembly. This recognises students who:

  • have all committed & excellent in their assessment reports
  • are always on time to school
  • behave well in lessons and never get a C3
  • have impressed their form tutor/year leaders the most.

We celebrate all students who fall into these categories. We also do a draw for seasonal treats!

Golden Ticket Draw

Every week, staff recognise students who have gone over and above expectations with entry into the Golden Ticket Draw. There is one draw winner per year group and they receive a £5 Love to Shop Voucher.

Parents receive a text home letting them know that their child has been entered into the Golden Ticket Draw.

Hot chocolate and a biccy

Ms Staples loves to meet with students who are doing exceptionally well in their efforts/contributions to school. They are invited to a morning hot chocolate and biscuit (alternative available). This is recognition of students who always try their absolute best or who go above and beyond in their wider contributions to school life.

Rewards Trips

At the end of the school year, students who have met the targets for attendance and behaviour get the opportunity to go on a subsidised reward trip.
